We have some tips for fun places to visit in southwest Florida for those who are new to the area:
- Art enthusiasts: those who enjoy art, you need to visit the quaint town of Matlacha, which is in the Cape Coral / Fort Myers area. It is perfect for a weekend afternoon. Walking up and down the main street and visiting the various artists. This town is known for being a leader in the art community.
- Boaters: if you love to be on the waterways, southwest Florida has a lot of restaurants, beaches, and parks that you can dock your boat, get out, and enjoy. From Fort Myers, all the way down the coast to Marco Island, you will find many restaurant establishments that welcome boaters. If you don’t have a boat, many charters and boat rental companies abound.
- Nature Lovers: if you enjoy camping, kayaking, or hiking, there are many preserves and parks the explore. Cayo Costa State Park, just east of Pine Island, is the perfect camping retreat for those who want to get away from it all. Delnor-Wiggins Pass State Park is perfect for bird watching. Here, you will see many shorebirds in action. You might even see a bald eagle since they nest in the area.
- Beachgoers: if you worship the sun and are looking for beautiful beaches, you are sure to find what you are looking for in Naples and Marco Island. The white sandy beaches stretch for miles. Enjoy walking or running along the shore. Some of the beaches have sports rental equipment, bars, and restaurants while others are more secluded. There is a beach here for everyone!
