air conditioner fort myers

Ah, June in Florida. It is getting hot and everyone’s AC’s are now being cranked down in order to keep us cool and comfortable despite the crazy humidity.

Unlike other parts of the country here in the south, especially Florida, your AC unit never really fully gets a break. It is used all year long which can wear out the units faster than you might think.

How do you know when it is time to replace your air conditioner?

We here at All Day Air Cooling and Heating are experts in the HVAC field.  We would like to give you some tips on when to start considering a new system:

Signs You May Need A New System

Your monthly electric bill has gone up. You have the same number of people in your home and know that you haven’t changed your temperature settings, yet your electric bill is more expensive than normal or worse even, keeps rising monthly. This is a definite sign that your system is not functioning efficiently. The longer you just let it go, most likely the worse it will become.

Your AC is an older model (10 years +) While yes, AC units are supposed to last 10-15 years it all depends on wear and tear, amount of use, if maintenance is done regularly, and if the filter is changed on a regular basis. When left alone and not maintained you will not get the full lifetime value and it will need to be changed out sooner than it could have been.

Not cooling things down. It is beginning to take a lot longer to cool your home. Here in Florida, the days can be scorching. If it seems to be taking a long time to cool your home compared to years past, start shopping for a new unit.

Frequent Repairs. If the cost of repairs starts to outweigh the cost of a new air conditioning unit much like a car it may be time to give in and ditch the old one in favor of a new more energy efficient model which will pay for itself over time.

Here at All Day Air Cooling and Heating, we have the expertise and knowledge to point you in the right direction. We can repair your unit, and if needed, can get you an entirely new system.
