Climate Control Fort Myers

Most people have a good grasp on how to adjust the thermostat to get their home to maintain a comfortable temperature but most do not know much about the unit itself. This is even more likely if it was a previous owner who installed it.

The manufacturers label is usually situated on the outside component on a central air conditioning unit.

BTU Capacity – The air conditioners capacity references the amount of heat energy. This is written in BTUs (British Thermal Units). The number ranges between 018 and 060 and represents the capacity in thousands of BTUs. ie. 018 = 18,000 BTUs. The higher the number the stronger the air conditioner. Larger homes with more space to cool or heat need bigger units.

Model and serial number – These are listed as M/N for model number and S/N for serial number. By having these vital numbers you can find more information about your unit by contacting the manufacturer directly. They are also able to give a manufacture date based on either of these.

Filter – Using the right sized filter is important. Check the writing printed on the frame of the installed filter. It will list the height, width and thickness and usually a manufacturing part number which can direct you to the right replacement.
