air conditioning Fort Myers

With the weather heating up and the humidity rising, it is more important than ever before that we have a well operating and properly functioning air conditioner. There is nothing worse than coming home from work on a swelteringly hot day, only to find that your air conditioner isn’t working for some reason. A lot of times, these issues are things that can be easily fixed without the need for a professional, and at other times, you are looking at a more serious problem that may require an expert.

Of course, regular maintenance is something that will help reduce the risk that your air conditioner will stop working on you suddenly. Regular maintenance helps to reduce the likelihood of some of the common problems that cause an air conditioner to stop working at its optimal level. However, even with regular maintenance, there are going to be occasional issues. One of the most common is having an air conditioner that is blowing air, but not cold air.

There are a number or reasons that this can happen. The first thing you will want to check is the air filter in your air conditioner. If the air filter is clogged or plugged, it will reduce the efficiency of the unit and also its ability to push cool air. To fix this, you often simply just need to clean and/or replace the filter and its surrounding housing. If this is your problem, a little cleaning and a new filter should be all you need.

If this isn’t your issue, you’ll next need to consider the status of the fan and fan motor. You may have to remove the outer casing of your AC unit to do this. There may be debris like dust and dirt that are built upon either the fan or the motor that simply needs to be cleaned off to reduce friction or whatever is impeding movement. There is also a chance that the fan blades have been damaged in some way and may need replacement. This often fixes the problem immediately.

Perhaps you try these things and your AC is still not blowing cold air. At this point, you may be looking at a temperature gauge or thermostat that is stuck or broken, or it could be something a bit more major. If you exhaust all the simple and common issues that could be leading to your issue, it is time to call in the professionals to diagnose and repair the problem.
