As homeowners, we take pride in the appearance of our home. From landscaping to pressure washing the siding to cleaning the windows, we do a lot to add to the curb appeal of our homes. We understand that after you put so much time and effort into “prettying” up the outside that you see the air conditioning unit as an eye-sore. We agree. They are not the most attractive part of a home but are essential in keeping your family comfortable during hot, humid Florida days.
In response to the unappealing nature of an air conditioning unit, we have the top three ways to hide it from view.
- Conceal it with nature. Plant tall grasses or hedges around the unit. You can even place large, colorful pots full of flowers and plants to draw the eye away from the a/c. Just make sure there is enough room for it to be serviced.
- Hide it behind a small fence, a decorative wood partition, or a trellis with climbing ivy plants. Get creative with this type of blockade. Possibly find large, old shutters to repaint in complementary colors to your home and install it securely in front of the air conditioning unit.
- Create a unique storage area if the unit is in a place out of the way such as the side yard. You can place tools that you frequently use in this handy storage area. Make sure that the area is built so that the air conditioning unit has proper air flow around it.
Not only will you love the finished look of your home’s exterior without looking at the a/c unit, but so will your neighbors. Anything that you do to improve your home’s appearance, it will improve the look of the neighborhood overall.
